Statins: comparative drugs characteristic, control and objectives of treatment
Statins are widely used drugs for the treatment of hypercholesterolemia - a major cause of atherosclerosis and coronary heart disease. We review the results of modern studies of statins confirming the positive effect of HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors on mortality from cardiovascular complications, with good tolerability and relative safety of these drugs. The use of statins is a long-term strategy for primary and secondary prevention of cardiovascular diseases and their complications.
